Volunteer Recruitment Gathering

Maine Mineral & Gem Museum | June 6 | 6:30pm

Are you obsessed with rocks? Love minerals and gems?
Intrigued by meteorites? Looking to feel more connected your community?
Join like-minded people at MMGM for a introduction to volunteering at the museum: Thursday, June 6, 6:30-8:00 PM

Our grand opening is rapidly approaching and MMGM is looking for docents to be the public face of the museum, guide tours, and help interpret the galleries. Docents are the touchstone of MMGM’s educational mission, providing an important link between the exhibits and visitors. You don’t need to be an expert (though experts are welcome!), just someone with an enquiring mind who likes to share information.

If you enjoy talking about minerals but are not interested in leading tours, then our Discovery Gallery, housing nearly 10,000 specimens, will be the perfect place to share your passion. If you are interested in becoming involved, but feel your knowledge is not specialized enough, then learn about our interactive exhibits and start on our information desk.By committing eight or more hours per month you can join the extended MMGM community and take advantage of exclusive training in meteoritics, geology, minerology, and museum practices.

If you love rocks, don’t miss this opportunity to be among the first to see the completed museum, increase your knowledge, and share it with the public.
