From the Director – April 2018

Happy Spring!  I hope this finds you settled into 2018 and enjoying a new season. For all of you that have been following MMGM’s progress over the years, I have an exciting announcement that addresses that one BIG question—when are we going to open?

After a thorough nationwide search for museum fabricators, we narrowed our search to 12 different firms that met the standards of excellence necessary to complete our project in a timely fashion. With great pleasure, I’m able to report that 1220 Exhibits out of Nashville, TN has been hired. 1220 will be working closely with us and our design firm, PaulusDesignGroup to build and install MMGM’s exhibits.  The finish line is in sight!

Since 1972, 1220 Exhibits has been specializing in the management and fabrication of exhibitions, environments and events.  From interactive children’s museums to history museums with prestigious artifact displays, 1220 has brought stories to life for clients such as the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, the National Civil Rights Museum, Pro Football Hall of Fame and the National Museum of Natural History. 1220 is comprised of a team of over 100 project managers, estimators, artifact specialists, graphic technicians, technical detailers, scenic designers, electromechanical specialists, craftsmen and installers.  With a 100,000-square foot production facility, 1220 has ample space for manufacturing, prototyping, viewing, shipping and storing displays. Coupled with 45 years of experience in the exhibit fabrication industry and over 20 years in artifact mounting, 1220 is dedicated to producing state-of-the-art exhibits. 1220’s in-house scope of work and proven track record was a determining factor in hiring them to work with us here at MMGM.

The journey to create a world-class, educational and interactive museum has been a long expedition.  All of us at MMGM have adhered to the principle that depth, quality and thoroughness are more important than completing this project quickly. Our museum has been methodically planned to meet our goal to provide an experience that exceeds all expectations.  Rooted in science and history, we’ve designed a center that will be an innovative educational resource for many generations to come. We couldn’t be more thrilled that 1220 Exhibits will bring our story to life.

So—when are we going to open!?  We plan to open in the fall.  The exact date will be announced soon.  Stay tuned.
