For School Groups (and Grownups, too!)
To ensure that everyone has an enjoyable visit, please review the following expectations with all adults and students who will attend the visit.
Stick together. All students must stay with adult chaperones at all times when visiting the museum galleries. This includes students on self-guided visits.
Travel light! Students are invited to safely store coats and backpacks in the coat check area in the Discovery Room.
Lunch comes later. Eating or drinking is not allowed in galleries. Capped bottles of water are welcome.
Discussion and Movement. There is a lot to talk about but please do so with inside voices and remind your group to walk inside the museum. Students are responsible for always keeping their bodies and behavior under control. Chaperones are responsible for behavior reminders.
Screen break. Everyone should turn off cell phones or set to silent when in the galleries.
To Interact, or Not to Interact. Many specimens and exhibits throughout the galleries encourage interaction and include buttons, screens, tablets, and invitational signage directing appropriate interaction. However, as a general rule please keep hands off of all glass cases and surfaces.
Get those creative juices flowing! Please make sure students with writing/drawing assignments have proper writing surfaces such as clipboards. Only pencils are allowed in galleries.
Museum Store. Groups are welcome to visit the Museum Store in groups of 10 or fewer while accompanied by a chaperone.
