A Message from the Desk of the Executive Director…

Grateful for 2025. Building What Comes Next Together.

Happy New Year! As we step into 2026, I’m proud to share that the Maine Mineral & Gem Museum’s 2025 Annual Giving Campaign closed at just over $27,000 — more than $12,000 above our original goal. That kind of support speaks to a Maine community that values curiosity, science, and learning together, and I’m grateful for every gift.

Year-end giving is about more than meeting a number. It’s a moment to pause, reflect, and recognize the people who make our work possible. Because of your support, MMGM continues to be a place where visitors can hold a piece of the Moon, explore Maine’s remarkable geology, and experience science in ways that feel personal, welcoming, and inspiring.

Your generosity also allows us to look ahead with intention. In 2026, we’re expanding how people engage with MMGM, from new astronomy programs under dark Maine skies to sharing our work at the State House, to bringing hands-on mineral education into classrooms, and offering more public programs that invite our community to learn together.

As we enter the new year, there are many ways to stay connected and continue supporting the museum. Becoming a member, volunteering at the museum, sponsoring a specimen in our Arthur M. Hussey Rock Garden, purchasing a commemorative paver, or helping fund new education initiatives — all play a vital role in sustaining and growing our impact.

Just as important, we want to hear from you. Tell us what you love most about MMGM and what you’d like to see more of in the future. Your ideas and feedback help guide the exhibits, programs, and experiences we create next.

Thank you for believing in the mission of the Maine Mineral & Gem Museum and for being part of this remarkable community. Because of you, this museum continues to grow not just in scope, but in meaning.

With sincere appreciation,

Kristy Griffin
