Join us for an evening with geologist and former Maine State Museum staffer Ron Kley, whose early fascination with rocks began grew into a remarkable career in geology and museum work.
Ron spent 20 years at the Maine State Museum, where he helped build the state’s geological collections and was present during the famous 1972 “Big Find” of gem tourmaline at the Dunton Mine in Newry. Since then, he has worked with museums across the United States and around the world.
In this talk, Ron will share stories from a lifetime of collecting, fieldwork, and historical research, including his recent work tracing Mainers who took part in the California Gold Rush.
