Art at the MMGM: Swirling Nebula
Creating a Swirling Nebula Using Minerals
Saturday, August 8th 10:00 AM
99 Main Street, Bethel, ME 04217
$40 | Limited to 10 participants
About the Workshop:
Create an artful Nebula in a shadowbox! Work with multi-media artist, Posey Moulton, and the Maine Mineral and Gem Museum to explore the intersection of science, art, and playful experimentation. Work with Maine minerals, pigmented mica powder, paint, mediums, ropes and nets, and a myriad of materials.
What are Nebula?
Nebula are massive, glowing clouds of interstellar gas and cosmic dust. They span several light-years across. They are commonly referred to as “stellar nurseries,” because gravity causes gas and dust to clump together until they are dense and hot enough to ignite nuclear fusion, giving birth to new star and planetary systems.
About the Artist:
Posey Moulton (Franco-American, b. 1961)
Moulton is a multi-disciplinary environmental artist rooted in world-building and collaboration. Posey works to foster an ethos of generosity and creative exchange through making art and collaborating with multi-generational communities both near home and faraway, like Albania and India. Pamela’s installations are playful, large-scale, hands-on, and exploratory.
